System Director, Pharmacy-Clinical

The System Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, programmatic, scholarly, and personnel activities of Pharmacy Clinical Services. This includes establishing, meeting and continuously monitoring the goals and objectives while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives for Premier Health. This position entails leading clinical team leads and clinical pharmacy specialists to expand, integrate, and sustain inpatient and ambulatory clinical services to improve patient outcomes and deliver value to Premier Health. Pharmacy clinical services include, but are not limited to: interprofessional rounding, pharmacist patient care processes, consults, emergency response, formulary enforcement, medication use stewardship, patient education, and medication information provision. While the range of duties and responsibilities is broad and varied, the position’s major responsibility is directing the day-to-day clinical operations, financial management, formulary management, and human resource management as it relates to clinical pharmacy services.

The System Director works closely with a variety of stakeholders, coordinating the activities of Clinical Pharmacy Services across the enterprise and through future integration efforts. The System Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services serves as the programmatic and operational leader for Clinical Pharmacy Services and is responsible to the System Vice President of Pharmacy and works closely with Premier Health employees and leaders.

General Summary/Responsibilities:

Pharmacy clinical leader for the following:

  • Premier Hospital Acute Care pharmacies
  • Premier Hospital Ambulatory Care pharmacy services (Anticoagulation, Oncology, MTM, etc…)
  • Premier Health P&T Committee

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: Master’s degree

Additional requirements:

§ Type of degree: B.S. Pharm or PharmD

§ Area of study or major: Pharmacy

§ Preferred educational qualifications: Master’s degree in pharmacy administration, healthcare administration, business, or other relevant subject area

Licensure/Certification/Registration

§ Ohio pharmacist licensure in good standing or eligible for licensure with the State of Ohio.

§ Board certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialists, preferred.

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 – 5 years of job related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: Experience in clinical pharmacy and formulary management

Prior specific functional responsibilities: Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency in health-system pharmacy administration or equivalent work experience

Preferred experience: Has held administrative positions in a complex health system
