Senior Infrastructure Product Owner

The Senior Infrastructure Product Owner will be responsible for providing a clear vision and direction to an agile team (squad), enabling the delivery of value in line with Helia’s strategy and organisation objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT infrastructure as a Product Owner or Infrastructure Manager, including AWS Cloud hosting, experience in agile methodologies, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The main responsibilities of the Senior Infrastructure Product Owner will be:

  • Working with key stakeholders to define the product vision aligned with Helia’s strategy.
  • Inspiring the squad with the vision and value to be created
  • Establishing a roadmap and product backlog, seeking to maximise value.
  • Regularly prioritising the product backlog and working with the squad every sprint to define the sprint backlog.
  • Assisting with the elaboration of epics, themes and features into user stories that are granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint.
  • Conveying the vision and goals at the beginning of every sprint
  • Participating in daily scrums, sprint planning meetings, backlog grooming and sprint reviews
  • Facilitates acceptance testing of each user story and each sprint, decide whether the product increment is releasable.
  • Providing constructive feedback to the squad on work completed and their processes and interactions in delivering these outcomes.
  • Communicating with other Product Owners, coordinating on shared changes, and sharing learnings.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of infrastructure products and services.
  • Provide regular reports and presentations to stakeholders on product performance, progress and future plans.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance product quality and delivery.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with infrastructure products, including security, compliance, and operational risks.
  • Ensure that infrastructure products comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Work closely with the security and compliance teams to address any issues and implement necessary controls.

Qualifications – Required:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a Product Owner or Infrastructure Manager role
  • Expert in managing external Infrastructure Service Providers
  • Proven experience working in an agile environment, with a strong understanding of agile principles and practices.

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components, including networking, storage, compute, and cloud services.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), cloud platforms (AWS and Azure Cloud), and virtualization technologies.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred:

Certifications

  • Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • Relevant infrastructure certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cisco Certified Network Professional).

Experience

  • Experience in mid to large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools.

Other

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and data privacy considerations in APRA regulated Financial Services organisations
