The Employee Relations Lead will be responsible for managing employee relations strategies, ensuring compliance with India-specific employment laws, conducting investigations, advising leadership on labor regulations and providing legal guidance on employee relations matters.
This role requires a blend of legal expertise and HR leadership to drive employee relations excellence while ensuring full compliance with India’s labor laws.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert on Indian labor laws, including the Industrial Disputes Act, Shops & Establishments Act, Contract Labor Act, and POSH Act.
- Provide legal guidance and interpretation of employment laws to HR, business leaders, and internal stakeholders to mitigate risks.
- Lead and oversee employee grievance handling, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations, ensuring compliance with legal and company policies.
- Collaborate with legal teams, compliance, and external counsel to address litigation, regulatory challenges, and workplace disputes.
- Design and implement employee relations policies and frameworks that align with both legal requirements and business needs.
- Provide training and awareness programs for HR and managers on employment law, disciplinary actions, and workplace ethics.
- LLB (Bachelor of Law) / LLM (Master of Law) with specialization in Labor Laws, Employment Law, or Industrial Relations.
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Business Administration (preferred).
- 12-18 years of experience in Employee Relations, Employment Law Advisory, Industrial Relations, or HR Compliance in a large-scale organization.
- Strong expertise in India’s labor laws and legal frameworks, with hands-on experience in handling disciplinary actions, workplace disputes, and statutory compliance.
- Strong legal acumen with the ability to interpret and apply employment laws effectively.
- Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage sensitive employee issues.
- High ethical standards and integrity in handling workplace matters.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, especially in crisis situations.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management, particularly when advising senior leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws, industrial relations, and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in HR case management systems and compliance tracking tools.
- Experience in preparing legal reports, risk assessments, and policy documents.
- Ability to conduct labor law audits and ensure statutory compliance.
