Regional Medical Director

Phoenix, AZ (Position requires travel thru Metro Phoenix area)

Position Summary

The Adult Regional Medical Director aids the Chief Clinical Officer with oversight and coordination of quality comprehensive medical care to a variety of center patients, in an efficient and cost-effective manner, for both the health centers and the organization.

Position Reponsibilities

  • Serves as primary liaison between their Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Physicians and Chief Clinical Officer
  • Assist with developing, coordinating, and enforcing medical policies and procedures. Educates clinical staff on rationale and need for adherence to medical policies
  • Assist in implementing the Patient Centered Medical Home model including improving clinical workflows and patient satisfaction
  • Supervise, monitor, audit and evaluate Internal Medicine Physicians and Family Medicine Physicians in Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Departments of the company
  • Assist with recruitment of medical staff, including interviewing candidates.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of diagnosis-related practices and guidelines
  • Work cooperatively with the Health Center Practice Managers, and contributes to the evaluation of the Practice Manager in conjunction with the Director of Operations
  • Lead regular meetings of the medical staff at their health center
  • Assist in the maintenance of clinical coverage when needed
  • Meet regularly with the Chief Clinical Officer, and other medical leaders, to improve clinical care and processes
  • Responsible for all essential responsibilities of and Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician (as appropriate)

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Ability to coordinate quality medical care in the outpatient setting
  • Interest in fostering organizational/physician/patient cooperation towards improving the delivery of care
  • Ability and evidence of competence in general office procedures and organizational effectiveness
  • Ability to adequately act as a liaison between the organization and the medical staff of the health center

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Public Health Administration or related field preferred
  • Two years of experience working in a management capacity in a health care institution or agency
  • Proof of successful National Board completion or certification
  • Meets requirements of Medical Staff membership
  • Completion of an accredited United States Internal Medicine or Family Practice Residency Program
  • Valid Arizona medical license
  • Valid DEA certificate
  • Certification to perform cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Health Care Professional (CPR) and AED through courses that follow the guidelines from the American Heart Association and Red Cross (cognitive and skills evaluations)
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical methods and techniques
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively with clients, associates and the general public
