Program Director – Combat Systems Integration

Our client is a global technology innovator and trusted partner in the Australian defence industry, who are seeking an exceptional Program Director to lead the one of their critical business programs.

Their teams are renowned for their excellence, working on projects that directly contribute to the defence of our nation. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with specialist teams of engineers, technicians, and logisticians, and as the Program Director you play a pivotal role in developing and delivering impactful outcomes for our nation and defence. As the senior representative on this program, you will engage directly with defence leaders and assume a key role in governance and review boards within Commonwealth and Defence forums.

The Role

As a skilled leader with a passion for building relationships and driving results, you will lead program operations, manage resources, and deliver high-quality solutions, driving your national team toward success. This position involves implementing strategies, managing project opportunities and risks, and developing mitigation strategies. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure capability meets defence readiness objectives. In this role, you will exercise your negotiation skills and influence across various stakeholder groups by providing briefings, presentations, and reports to governance bodies and organizational leadership. Additionally, you will mentor staff, develop talent, and actively contribute to the overall business growth.

To Be Successful In The Role You Must Bring

  • Strong commercial experience in major project delivery enhanced by knowledge in maritime or military management systems will be highly advantageous,
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, Project Management, Business Management or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience
  • Eligible for registration as a Registered Project Manager (Reg PM) and certification as a CPPM through the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM).
  • Demonstrated experience with EACS’s and PMR’s
  • Proven experience in complex project management including:
  • Leading integrated product team(s).
  • Geographically dispersed teams and stakeholders.
  • Multiple / complex lines of communication.
  • Variable backlog or schedule with compounding interactions. Specialist resources that are difficult to obtain/retain.
  • Management of specific environmental hazards.
  • High levels of system complexity.
  • Significant expertise in the maritime domain is highly regarded
