Mission and Goals (About the Role)
We are seeking a Principal Software QA Engineer to lead the strategy, execution, and evolution of our quality assurance efforts across mobile platforms (iOS and Android). This role is pivotal in defining QA direction, mentoring engineers, and driving technical excellence in test automation, performance, and security validation across large-scale mobile applications.
Objectives (What You Will Do in This Role)
🔍 Strategy & Leadership
- Lead QA vision across multiple projects, aligning quality goals with business objectives.
- Influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to multiple QA teams, ensuring alignment and efficiency.
- Mentor and develop QA talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
⚙️ Technical Innovation & Automation
- Design and scale advanced test automation frameworks for native mobile apps (Kotlin/Android and Swift/iOS).
- Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and methodologies to elevate testing practices.
- Contribute to performance and security testing strategies and guide the adoption of best practices.
- Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps integration to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
- Ensure robust coverage for backend systems, databases, and APIs through automation and integration testing.
🔁 Process Optimization
- Continuously evaluate and refine QA processes, removing inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
- Set quality benchmarks, metrics, and reporting standards across teams to track and elevate quality outcomes.
Competencies (What You’ll Need to Be Successful in This Role)
- 8+ years of experience in software QA, with expertise in large-scale mobile app testing.
- Proven track record in building and leading test automation architecture for complex mobile systems.
- Proficiency in tools like Appium, Espresso, and XCUITest, with hands-on coding in Kotlin and Swift.
- Solid experience in backend testing (databases, APIs), CI/CD systems, and DevOps workflows.
- Knowledge of performance and security testing methodologies and tools.
- Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and communication skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to align QA direction with product and business goals.
Nice to Have
- Experience in mobile app domains related to security, privacy, or data protection.
- Familiarity with secure app development, store compliance, and SDK integrations.
- Use of real-device cloud platforms like Firebase Test Lab or BrowserStack.
