Fisher Dynamics is currenking seeking a Plant Controller for our Saint Clair Shores, MI facilities. The Controller is responsible for leading the finances for plant operations to support profitability and budget control by planning and coordinating business and financial activities and providing financial direction to leadership and financial reporting to GM North America, COO and CFO, in alignment with corporate accounting policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare daily financial snapshot report. Prepare key metrics report for weekly update with Operations, VP and CFO.
- Prepare a detailed monthly forecast and review with senior plant staff.
- Provide timely financial data including recommendations to aid the Plant Manager in managing the business to achieve planned profitability targets.
- Ensure month-end closing is completed on time and accurately (financial statements clearly reflect all activities for the month including booking accruals). Attach adequate backup for all journal entries and maintain account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial performance vs. budget and forecast; provide explanations for large variances.
- Lead role during the annual budget process. Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze and then prepare detailed financial statements, capital forecasts and P&L bridges.
- Score keeper for cost reduction efforts. Quantify actual savings, provide estimates for future projects and prepare monthly report comparing savings vs. plan.
- Leadership role in all standard costing activities; annual process of updating labor and OH rates, audit BOM’s and routers to ensure changes are made on a timely basis and standards accurately reflect cost to manufacture products.
- Evaluate profitability of existing business. Possess a good understanding of variable and fixed costs to determine profitability by part, product group or customer.
- Major involvement in the physical inventory process. Ability to work with Materials and Production departments to improve inventory reporting accuracy.
- Experience developing ad hoc analyses; make vs. buy and profitability of new business (IRR, NPV, and Payback).
- Assists Group Controller in the development of new polices, planning and other corporate financial requirements.
- Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS), corporate accounting policies & procedures as well as US GAAP.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA, CMA or MBA a plus but not required.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years as a Controller in a manufacturing environment or relevant combined experience.
Skills
Strong standard costing background; product costing experience a plus.
Must demonstrate a history of driving process improvements.
Ability to work well with piers from other functional areas.
Good oral and written communication skills. Clearly and effectively, communicate financial information & concepts to management and non-financial personnel.
Good understanding of US GAAP.
Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems; using Plex software a plus.
