We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in energy, technology, and a passion to deliver products for a growing company. The Head of IT Operations is in a senior leadership role and oversees IT infrastructure, service delivery, operational excellence, and risk management alignment. The role ensures that IT systems are highly reliable, cost-effective, secure, and aligned with business growth objectives. They will lead daily IT operations, manage vendor relationships, mature operations processes, and work closely with the Information Risk Management team to address cybersecurity, compliance, and risk mitigation. The position is critical to stabilizing and scaling IT operations while enabling innovation and ensuring the organization maintains a strong security and regulatory posture. Additionally, the Head of IT Operations will be accountable for managing IT Operational budgets and optimizing spending while ensuring the right investment decisions are made to support strategic initiatives.
Reporting to the Sr. Director, IT, the role requires a self-motivated, dedicated, and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee infrastructure, Service Delivery, and Operational Governance
- Ensure IT reliability, availability, security, and performance at scale
- Optimize incident, change, and problem management process to improve service levels
- Manage Vendor Relationships and contracts, ensuring SLAs are met and costs are controlled
- Partner with business units to support application performance and system scalability
- Ensure Robust Security and compliance with regulatory frameworks
- Mentor and develop a operations team to increase capability maturity
- Collaborate closely with the Information Risk Management team
- Integrate risk assessment results into operational roadmaps and change management.

- Requires a minimum of five (5) years of management experience with a proven track record of organizational success.
- Requires experience and a deep understanding of the Texas electric market, particularly focused on transaction management.
- Highly experienced in supporting teams and projects in a fast-paced environment, with often overlap of projects and priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; must be able to provide timely and accurate data analysis.
- Strong business writing skills and experience developing communication in various formats.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Learner mindset and eye for continuous improvement needs.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.
- Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge.
- Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly, and demonstrate effective problem-solving and follow-up skills.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
Location and work SCHEDULE
- Required to be in-person in Houston, TX, through a hybrid workplace environment
