Director, XC Solutions Engineers Job Overview: 

The Director, F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) Solutions Engineers (XC SE Dir) position is a technical sales leadership role, responsible for leading our XC Solutions Engineers in both technical and business essential engagements with our core SE team, customers and partners in the regions you are responsible for. 

You will be responsible for a geographically dispersed team, aligned to the EMEA/META regions and support our sales and technology teams in achieving the sales goals (quota).

This is a specialist role inside of F5 and you will be required to work within a matrixed organizational structure.

You will bring technical capabilities and business acumen to guide teams on the most effective approach to customers’ technical problems and their business priorities.

F5® Distributed Cloud Services are SaaS-based security, networking, and application management services that can be deployed across multi-cloud, on-premises, and edge locations.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with the EMEA/META sales leadership to develop and execute on sales strategy, technology positioning, and execution priorities.
  • Play the role of evangelist, thought leader, mentor, and influencer within and outside of F5 in the Solution Engineering community and the XC product group.
  • Hire, onboard, develop and retain a strong, diverse, and inclusive team that is truly representative of the F5 culture.
  • Empower the team to think beyond the routine.
  • Coach, mentor and guide the team in achieving their goals.
  • Hold yourself and the team to the highest standards of conduct.
  • Assist in the sales strategy, enablement, support of the XC technologies.
  • Ensure your team adheres to operational standards such as Salesforce record upkeep, Vivun updates, customer engagements.
  • Be accountable to not only sales quota, but also operational standards of the team.
  • Provide guidance and insight on product requirements and futures needed for your assigned region to be successful.
  • Be part of the global specialist team, developing peer relationships across theaters.
  • Manage Proof of Concept approvals and ensure proper documentation.

How you’ll do it

  • Effectively partner with peer SE leaders to identify XC opportunities and develop technology win strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strategic business engagement plans in partnership with your Specialist sales leader, Regional theatre leaders, internal product teams, customers, and partners.
  • Identify Technical and soft skill requirements of the SE team you are responsible for and provide resources, and guidance to build and develop their capabilities.
  • Effectively manage resources to support business priorities.
  • Involve and engage with the key product leaders to ensure the XC Platform is meeting customers desired outcomes.

What you’ll bring?

  • Outstanding presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex technologies 
  • Experience in a role that requires project management and negotiation skills, a plus
  • Prior management experience required, with theatre wide coverage models preferred
  • 10-15 years of relevant industry experience
  • Familiarity with F5 product suite a big plus
  • Familiarity with Cloud, SaaS based solutions, SD-WAN, Networking, Container and AI technologies preferred
  • BS or BA degree or equivalent work experience
