REPORTS TO: Managing Director of University Advising

DEPARTMENT: University Advising Center

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree strongly preferred. Minimum three years related work experience, preferably in a post-secondary academic institution or mental health setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Student-success oriented. Ability to work to established deadlines. Excellent problem solving skills necessary. Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and Saturdays. This position is a full-onsite position.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for managing the university’s retention management software system. Work closely with the Managing Director of University Advising, the University Advising Center team, and various other administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure that students experience the highest level of satisfaction and attention throughout their university careers. Assist various constituencies in assessment of student success, retention, academic progress, report creation and implementation, and other assigned or designated responsibilities. Organize and maintain technology resources, especially the retention software system, and assist in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the retention and graduation of students at the university. This position will also assist with advising needs when there is overflow.

  • Ability to interact professionally with trustees, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and other constituents at the University.
  • Carry out the mission of the University.

DUTIES:

  • Maintain and monitor the university retention management software to identify at risk students pertaining to academic, social, or other factors; determine the factors responsible, and utilize appropriate intervention strategies and support resources.
  • Compile and analyze data from the retention management software to evaluate policies, track risk factors, determine possible trends, assess intervention strategies, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Communicate with faculty and staff the proper use of the retention management software and the role that it serves in the retention and graduation rates of students.
  • Create, refine, and deliver training programs and sessions to all users of the retention management software.
  • Assist with student outreach activities in support of retention and student success; foster collaborative partnerships that help to address the holistic needs of students.
  • Work closely with the offices of Accessibility Services, Tutoring Services, Student Affairs, and Student Life, as well as academic departments in the coordination and oversight of retention activities and programs.
  • Maintain web pages related to the retention of students and the retention management software system.
  • Assist in the development, creation, and use of written/electronic publications, communications, and other informational/marketing materials related to the retention of students or the retention management software system.
  • Assist with advising needs when required.
  • Perform other related work and special projects as directed or required.
