Director of Operational Reporting, Measurement and Analytics

The Opportunity

This key role in Investment operations is essential to they make sure that investment operations run smoothly and effectively. MassMutual Operational and Centers of Excellence leadership depend on analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to oversee and improve investment transactional efficiency and execution. Director in this role will continuously examine and evaluate crucial KPIs and analytics generated by day-to-day operations including, straight through automation levels, capacity, work assignment and individual performance metrics to influence operational CoE decision-making.

This role will influence various centers of excellence in appropriately scheduling and measuring the impact of work assignments weekly, escalating and recommending solutions on resourcing to issues as informed by the metrics.

The position will report to the Head of Investment Management Operations.

The Team

Investment Operations extends from relentlessly focusing on stakeholder satisfaction, to accelerating the adoption of automated, digital transaction processing and self-service tools. To this end, the team leverages technology and data to both reshape investment operational support and deliver differentiated stakeholder experiences.

The Impact

  • Own and lead a direct and indirect team to monitor daily operational data to update dashboards on trade and security operations including derivatives, cash reconciliations to accounting system and cash clearing and settlement breaks
  • Constantly iterate and refine metrics and measurement analytics based on insights to drive efficiencies to produce the metrics
  • Help transform the business to be data driven helping to unpack the power of data driven insights and identify opportunities for data connectivity between reconciliation teams
  • Recommend efficient ways to operationalize transaction work assignments to reduce risk, increase cost and process time efficiencies
  • Monitor work queues and ensure critical deliverables are met on time and with quality
  • Collaborate, Lead and Manage concurrent enhancement projects; conduct workshops to accomplish data and reporting automation
  • Partner with Enterprise Technology (ETX) to identify data and reporting views to support the evolving needs of the operational leadership team
  • Scale and improve the data and reporting infrastructure partnering with ETX using the best solution set available to automate for end user consumption at various levels
  • Participate in key management meetings to inform as well as gather insights on further analysis on an ad-hoc basis

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data science, Finance, Accounting, or Technology
  • 8+ years experience in Data disciplines, Finance planning and analysis experience from financial services including banking, insurance, or investment areas

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Prior experience in data analytics and deriving insights from data and be able to communicate findings is critical
  • Excellent communications and listening skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a numerate, analytical approach are crucial
  • Demonstrated experience developing, leading, and managing a diverse team, fostering a collaborative approach and strong partnership with a focus on attracting, developing, and retaining talent
  • Ability to lead multiple enhancement / automation projects, keep stakeholders accountable for deliverables, and provide weekly status updates
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with good commercial foresight
  • Great teammate – able to work effectively and collaboratively within a small, dedicated team but also a large local platform
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines leveraging cross-functional teams with little direct supervision
  • Committed to delivering the highest quality work product
  • Self-motivated, hard-working and sense of urgency with a strong attention to detail
