Position Summary

The Director of Informatics will play a crucial role in our Programs Department, overseeing our Informatics Program. This position is responsible for organizing and managing significant functions and programs, including the supervision of professional and support staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership and Management
  • Provide strategic direction and public health informatics expertise
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and outcomes of the Informatics unit
  • Develop and implement initiatives supporting the unit’s strategic direction
  • Manage unit resources, both fiscal and human
  • Supervise and mentor staff, ensuring professional growth and development
  • Strategic Planning and Program Growth
  • Contribute to long-term project planning
  • Identify future activities and funding opportunities
  • Ensure collaboration across units to maximize operational effectiveness
  • Budget and Resource Management
  • Oversee program budget in collaboration with senior leadership and finance staff
  • Manage grant and cooperative agreement processes
  • Develop continuation and competitive grant proposals
  • External Relations and Partnerships
  • Represent the organization at national, state, and local meetings and conferences
  • Liaise with other national organizations, industry partners, and government entities
  • Ensure representation of local public health interests in relevant forums
  • Project Management
  • Develop and oversee project work plans, timelines, and deliverables
  • Ensure timely completion of project objectives and activities
  • Oversee development and completion of project reports
  • Implement process and outcome evaluations of project activities
  • Leadership Support
  • Assist senior leadership in connecting project work across the portfolio
  • Represent senior leadership at internal and external meetings as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 8-10 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 7-8 years of experience
  • Advanced expertise in public health informatics
  • Experience working with local health departments preferred
  • Strong understanding of cooperative agreements, grant management, and contract processes
  • Excellent project management, communication, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel
