Implements policies and procedures while coordinating all services provided by the department. Supervises nurse managers and staff. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Maintains quality of care and fiscal responsibilities for the departments. Collects and manages data for monthly reports and ongoing Performance Improvement. When necessary, functions in the role of direct patient care provider. Takes on additional responsibilities as needed. Regularly interacts with the following patient populations: Children (5-12 years), Adolescence (13-17 years), Adult (18-64 years), Geriatric (more than 64 years) Directs, coordinates, and evaluates patient care and personnel work assignments to ensure patient care standards are met.Assigns the care of patients to nursing staff based on:Staff scope practice and competencyComplexity of assessment/care required.Decision making skills required.Degree of supervision required and its availability.Facilitates preparation of monthly work schedules, coordinating staff requests with department needs in a timely, equitable manner.Evaluates staffing requirements for current and subsequent shifts, utilizing productivity guidelines and availability.Participates weekly in the timely completion and signing of timecards and timecard pletes daily productivity documentation within the requested time frame.Provides leadership, direction, and support in emergency situations.Responds to/resolves client concerns in a professional and timely manner and conveys information to subsequent shifts and management when appropriate.Adheres to, interprets and monitors established clinical and administrative policies, procedures, and standards.Ensures documentation and follow-up on employees’ incident and patient variance reports and informs CNO of occurrences in a timely pletes PI monitors as required. Assists in the creation of plans to ensure continued improvement in customer satisfaction.Acts as a resource for unit staff and support departments. Plans for and participates in the clinical development and evaluation of unit staff and self to ensure unit clinical competency, position retention and personal municates regularly with CNO, goals, objectives, and status of work product within the facility.Acts as a liaison between unit staff, physicians, and patients to facilitate problem resolution.Coordinates and communicates patient care activities with health care team members and appropriate departments, including admissions and discharges, triage, physician orders and rounds.Responsible for overall Patient Satisfaction as measured by Patient Satisfaction tool.
