Director, IT Infrastructure

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Director, IT Infrastructure.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position purpose

  • Responsible for the design and implementation of the GIA infrastructure environments for production applications and data integration. This includes managing the capacity planning for network equipment, servers, storage, and backups and engaging in automation and emerging technologies that accommodate growth without compromising performance or security.
  • Directs and oversees the Infrastructure and Operations for the effective and efficient delivery of all internal and cloud managed IT Infrastructure.
  • Drive innovation by staying abreast of technology trends and advancements, ensuring GIA infrastructure remains current and provides flexibility to the business.
  • Manage smooth transitions to technologies (Artificial Intelligence, IaaS, PaaS) while reducing downtime, implementing change management/policies for utilization, and maintaining business continuity.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Develop and implement a strategic IT infrastructure strategy that aligns with the company’s goals.
  • Direct and manage all aspects of service delivery related to the organizational IT infrastructure including systems management, capacity planning, systems integration, supporting documentation, and other technology platforms shared across the organization.
  • Manages Microsoft licensing and other assigned vendor contracts for compliance and budget control. Negotiates and maintains these agreements to ensure favorable terms.
  • Leads team of System Administrators and fosters an environment of continuous learning and knowledge transfer with documentation.
  • Works closely with Security Leadership to ensure implementation of security controls and measures to safeguard against threats and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for Infrastructure tools/posture.
  • Optimize datacenter operations to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Supervise technical team of systems administrators by appropriately assigning and delegating duties and responsibilities, ensuring high quality and effective execution and documentation.
  • Lead large-scale migration projects in support of merger and acquisitions requirements, ensuring seamless transition with minimal disruption. Specifically, O365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive), domain services (AD, DNS, file, etc.), MFA, and Pathology .
  • Support the company policy and standards for configuration, vulnerability, and risk management by maintaining up to date operating systems and achieving the appropriate patching requirements.
  • Ensure system and application availability and other performance requirements are documented, monitored, and achieved as required by service level agreements (SLAs), contractual requirements, and customer needs.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts for hardware, software, and services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other technical/scientific discipline or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of IT Infrastructure experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP, Microsoft Certified: Azure, Cloud (Agnostic) VMware, or Nutanix)

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft licensing and enterprise agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading successful cloud migrations.
  • Ability to lead and motivate technically skilled projects.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Technical proficiency in Windows, Linux, Mac, OSX, PowerShell, and scripting (Python).
  • Documented track record of successful delivery of complex projects in the corporate IT space.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both an operational and tactical level.
  • Knowledge of many, if not most, aspects of an enterprise technology architecture.
  • Expert knowledge of documentation processes (workflow or technical diagrams).
  • Understanding of network and security architecture.
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools, workflow, and automation.
  • Lead, participate, and provide guidance and recommendations on projects, as assigned.
  • Solid understanding of security principles including logical access controls, change control, least privilege, computer operations, network security, vendor, and vulnerability management.

Work Environment: This job operates in professional office environments.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds.
