Do work that matters

As a senior member in Commonwealth Securities’ Equity Capital Markets team you will be involved in raising equity capital and providing strategic advice to the Group’s corporate clients. Equity can be raised in a number of ways including Follow-on Offerings, IPOs, Listed Debt offerings. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and provide solutions for companies wanting to raise equity as well as partnering with institutional relationships to deliver investment opportunities to the CBA client base including CommSec and CBA Private Bank. The team is also responsible for the origination and distribution of ASX listed debt instruments alongside CommBank’s Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team.

More specifically, you’ll:

  • Develop and execute the vison and strategy for the Group’s Equity Capital Markets offering
  • Play a senior role in the origination and execution of CBA’s Equity Capital Markets activities.
  • Lead CBA’s relations with syndicate members in the process of executing a range of primary market and follow-on transactions
  • Lead the team’s corporate development activities with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal bankers and key stakeholders in the broader market
  • Identify, evaluate and pursue capital raising opportunities for the Bank’s Corporate clients
  • Experience in structuring various ECM transactions including equity deals and listed debt and structured products such as Listed Investment Companies.
  • Co-ordinate RFP responses and pitch book presentations for use in client discussions.
  • Co-ordinate deal execution activities including documentation, structuring, financial modelling and corporate advice for equity capital markets issuance.
  • Develop, train and mentor junior and mid-level team members by managing workflow and providing coaching with detailed guidance and feedback.
  • Manage the continued development and improvement of CBA’s Equity Capital Markets risk and operating framework as well as ongoing management of the team’s control environment; including developing and adhering to regulatory, legal and compliance obligations.
  • Assist with co-ordinating responses to regulatory changes affecting the Australian financial services industry.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Have 7+ years of equity capital markets, corporate finance or M&A experience.
  • In depth knowledge of Australian equity capital markets including market trends and investor sentiment and the current regulatory environment
  • Experience across the end-to-end transaction cycle and is execution oriented.
  • Demonstrated track record of corporate development with existing book of stakeholder relationships and the ability to identify capital raising and corporate advisory opportunities.
  • Have demonstrated an ability to lead a deal team to successfully execute transactions.
  • Demonstrated the ability to prioritise and manage a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in engaging and building credibility and strong client relationships, and a successful track record leveraging internal relationships to deliver against revenue and client satisfaction target.
  • Have a strong knowledge of the applicable regulatory landscape in Australia and abroad.
  • Be confident in building quality relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Collaborate and operate well in a team environment under pressure.
  • Have demonstrated an ability to go above and beyond to address the needs of clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Law or other relevant discipline.
  • Completed or working towards a relevant postgraduate degree including MBA, JD or Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
  • Ability to obtain RG146 accreditation
