BAE Systems is seeking a Deputy Business Area Operations Director (BAOD) for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business, based in Fort Wayne, IN. This position supports the Operations function across six locations and plays a critical role in driving business growth, improving operational efficiency, and fostering a positive and inclusive work culture. The Fort Wayne site is a key location for BAE Systems, supporting both the CAS business and the C4ISR business, and this role will have opportunities to collaborate and influence across these business areas.
Key Responsibilities:

Report directly to the Senior Director of Business Area Operations in CAS and support the development and implementation of strategic plans to achieve business objectives

Build and maintain a strong site identity, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration across the CAS business and the C4ISR business at the Fort Wayne site

Lead a cross-functional site leadership committee to drive alignment, communication, and decision-making across functions and locations, including representatives from both CAS and C4ISR

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employee engagement, and empowering teams to drive change and innovation

Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction

Collaborate with senior leaders to establish and achieve business objectives, and provide regular progress updates and recommendations for improvement

Utilize “lean” principles and expertise to drive significant improvements in cost management, inventory management, quality, and delivery

Marshal resources to achieve business objectives, and orchestrate multiple activities to accomplish goals, using resources effectively and efficiently

Partner across the business to drive collaboration, and negotiate win-win solutions with internal and external customers and partners

Provide executive-level communication, presenting complex information to senior leaders, and exhibit technical credibility, communicating highly technical information in a simplistic and easily understandable way
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Typically a Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related discipline and a minimum of 10 years of experience with electronic systems manufacturing processes and systems

Must be willing to travel up to 25%

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Experience leading a complex electronics manufacturing business with revenues of at least $500M across multiple sites and multiple account segments

Experience with large-scale MES or other enterprise software for enhancing global process

Previous experience working for a government defense contractor

MBA or MS degree

Black Belt certification from ASQ

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $169630 – $288370
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
