In 1879, Father Bernard Donnelly established Mount St. Bernard’s Orphanage in Kansas City. With that one act of faith, hope and charity, many lives — and a community — were transformed. And, from that humble beginning a strong tradition of compassionate care and social service took root, thrived, and grew to become Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph. Catholic Charities empowers at risk people to create a pathway out of poverty by alleviating their immediate crises to create stability; then providing robust support to lift them to dignity and self-reliance.

Today, millions of lives have been transformed, in the communities we serve. We have office locations in the Kansas City metro-area, St. Joseph, Missouri, a Food Pantry in Kansas City and another in Cameron, Missouri, while serving a 27-county region. Salary is $55,000 to $57,000, depending on qualifications.

Our office hours are Monday – Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm and our offices are closed on Friday – giving you a three-day weekend!

Position Objective

This position will build, coordinate, and cultivate corporate support of the Workforce Development program through the Tax Credit program. This is a full-time, 38-hour per week position and will be located at 4001 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Suite 250, Kansas City, Mo location through the end of calendar year 2024, until our move to 8001 Longview Road, Kansas City, Mo.

Essential Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate cultivation and support of corporate donations
  • Major gift solicitation
  • Partner with diocese to create tax credit program
  • Enter data to bolster and maintain database records within donor database
  • Create and generate analytical reports as requested
  • Partner with marketing to produce and coordinate a communication package for internal and external constituents
  • Research corporate giving trends in Kansas City and create strategy for engagement
  • Actively engage with and represent in civic groups in Kansas City
  • Achieve budgeted revenue targets
  • Build and maintain existing donor relationships
  • Research and discover prospective corporate donors
  • Facilitate planned giving council, two times a year breakfast/lunch
  • Actively participate in all fundraising events throughout the year
  • Speak at parishes during CEEAF Appeals season
  • Collaborate with finance and database teams to create a system for recording, thanking, and tracking in-kind donations

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human services preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fundraising, development, or corporate/business sales.
  • Prior non-profit experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate skills in CRM database systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of tax credit programs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation and sales skills.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork; share information and learning; keep others informed.
  • Build constructive working relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Exercise strong attention to detail; pursue quality in accomplishing tasks.
  • Assume ownership for projects through the entire life cycle through completion.
