Overview

The Chief of Staff & Board Liaison to the CEO plays a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and impact of the Office of the CEO while serving as the strategic connector between the CEO and the Board of Directors. This role helps ensure the CEO is prepared for key meetings, tracks follow-through on initiatives, facilitates internal communication, and drives execution against top priorities. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and highly organized executor who thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. They are an excellent communicator, politically savvy, emotionally intelligent, and naturally adept at building strong internal and external relationships. At the same time, this role oversees all aspects of Board operations—from planning meetings and developing materials to fostering strong relationships with Board members and ensuring governance best practices and compliance.

What You Will Do

Executive Office Support

  • Ensure the CEO is well-prepared for internal meetings through curated briefings and clear action plans.
  • Attend internal leadership meetings to support the CEO by capturing follow-up actions and ensuring accountability.
  • Manage Executive Leadership Team (ELT) agendas and enhance communication between the CEO and direct reports.
  • Optimize the CEO’s calendar by prioritizing strategic engagements and overseeing logistics.

 

Board Liaison and Governance

Board Meeting Operations

  • Lead logistics, scheduling, and tech support for all Board and Committee meetings (in-person, hybrid, virtual).
  • Provide operational support during meetings and prepare accurate, compliant minutes.


Board Engagement & Governance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Board members, ensuring strong, responsive communication.
  • Collaborate with leadership to prepare and distribute Board agendas, reports, and resolutions.
  • Oversee onboarding and annual governance education; track participation and compliance.
  • Maintain a secure, organized digital repository for all Board materials.


Communication and Coordination

  • Act as a communication bridge between the CEO and internal leaders to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Assist in developing internal communications for the CEO that are timely, aligned, and mission-focused.
  • Ensure Board members receive timely updates, organizational news, and relevant communications.

 

Project and Action Management

  • Monitor progress on strategic initiatives and ensure follow-through on CEO and Board-related priorities.
  • Manage special projects as directed by the CEO, highlighting critical path items and supporting informed decision-making.
  • Disseminate post-meeting recaps and track completion of follow-up items across teams.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5+ years in executive support, board relations, project management, or related leadership roles.
  • Experience working closely with senior executives; healthcare or nonprofit experience is a plus.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred. MBA preferred.

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Superior organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail.
  • Trustworthy, politically astute, and skilled in managing sensitive information.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to manage multiple shifting priorities.

Compensation

$137,800.00 – $229,700.00 Annual
