The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial management of Saban Community Clinic (SCC) and oversight of the Accounting and Billing departments. Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial management of Saban Community Clinic (SCC) and oversight of the Accounting and Billing departments in addition to IT and Facilities. As a member of the Executive Team, the CFO will be directly involved with organizational strategy development and implementation and primarily responsible for fiscal strategic planning, forecasting, and tracking.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership, direction, and management of the Finance, Billing, IT andFacilitiesteams.
- Provides strategic financial recommendations to the CEO and the Board of Directors, including its relevant sub-committees.
- Manages and oversees the process for financial forecasting, modeling, and the organization’s budget.
- Oversees the preparation of all financial reports to inform short and long-term planning and decision-making, including reports to the Board of Directors, government regulatory agencies, and funders.
- Serves as primary liaison to the Treasurer of the Board of Directors and the Chairs of the Audit, Investment and Finance Committees.
- Oversees revenue cycle management, from registration through claims submission and payment collection. This includes Medi-Cal and Medicare billings, IPA and other managed care plan billings, and enrollment with commercial insurance providers as required.
- Advises on and undertakes major investment and financing decisions and communicates with key stakeholders of such strategy.
- Strategizes with the Advancement Department to design special-purpose budgets for government contracts and private donors while overseeing the preparation of such financial support materials.
- Oversees internal audit function and coordinates annual independent audit.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with relevant financial institutions.
- Leads the undertaking of capital markets and public and private financing transactions.
- Oversees and manages the organization’s financial risk exposure.
- Reviews and provides guidance on policies and procedures where the SME is Finance, Billing, IT, Facilities, or Homeless Services.
- Maintains working knowledge of the healthcare environment as it relates to the area of expertise, including government rules and regulations, changes in reimbursement, changes in the local market, and other key factors impacting Saban Community Clinic operations.
Position Requirements:
- An undergraduate degree in accounting or finance. CPA, MBA, or MFA preferred
- Solid accounting and finance experience with a minimum of five years in a senior management position in a non-profit
- setting.
- Prior FQHC experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience building & analyzing budget and financial documents.
- Ability to communicate accounting, budgetary, and financial information in a clear, organized manner to individuals
- with or without accounting backgrounds.
- Ability to be professional, clear, articulate, and accurate, both verbally and in writing
