Overview: This position is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the camp, with a primary focus on vision development, strategic planning, policy compliance, staff hiring and development, and operational management. Key responsibilities include overseeing staff, providing spiritual leadership, guiding program development, managing fundraising efforts, ensuring safety protocols, overseeing financial operations, and stewarding camp facilities. Additionally, this position plays a vital role in public relations, marketing, communications, and active engagement with the board to ensure all activities align with the camp’s mission and values.

Qualifications
1. Undergraduate or above degree or equivalent successful vocational experience
2. Preferred 10+ year’s experience working in vocational ministry or equivalent
3. Committed to align with the Christian Missionary Alliance tenants
4. Accreditation with The Christian and Missionary Alliance or willingness to pursue accreditation is preferred.
5. Background working with churches, youth ministries, or other faith-based organizations is a valuable asset.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Applications and able to navigate Google Suite, Project Management Software, and QuickBooks to support daily operations and communication.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable leading large groups, delivering presentations, and speaking from the stage with clarity and enthusiasm.
  • Proven ability for staff development to lead, mentor, and inspire staff, fostering a positive and growth-oriented team culture.
  • Solid understanding of fundraising, public relations, and marketing practices to support camp growth.
  • Committed to working closely with ministry professionals, volunteers, and community partners to promote the mission and impact of camp programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in team-based environments, contributing to shared goals with a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong planning and time management skills, capable of juggling multiple projects and events with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in budget development, cost control, and financial oversight to ensure responsible resource management.

  • Skilled in developing and executing long-term strategies to advance organizational goals and improve program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Vision Development & Strategic Leadership

  • In cooperation with the Board, develop and articulate the camp’s vision and strategic goals.
  • Foster a Christ-centered culture that aligns with the camp’s core values and spiritual objectives.
  • Lead long-term planning efforts to ensure the camp’s growth and sustainability.

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily camp operations, ensuring effective program delivery and logistical support.
  • Ensure management of camp facilities, safety, cleanliness, and proper maintenance.
  • Supervise camp schedules, activities, and special events.

Policy Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and organizational policies.
  • Ensure the implementation of risk management practices to safeguard campers, staff, and property.
  • Ensure appropriate licensing, accreditation, and certifications are maintained.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Oversee the process of recruiting, hiring, training, and mentoring camp staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Provide spiritual leadership, guiding staff in their faith journey and professional growth.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback.
  • Plan and execute monthly staff meetings and other gatherings.

Camper & Parent Engagement

  • Create a welcoming and nurturing environment for campers and their families.
  • Assist camp staff, as needed, in addressing camper concerns, behavioral issues, and parent communications effectively.
  • Help promote programs to attract diverse participants and increase camp enrollment.

Financial Stewardship

  • Develop and manage the camp’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability.
  • Oversee fundraising efforts, donor relations, and grant opportunities.
  • Ensure responsible allocation of resources and transparent financial reporting.

Spiritual Development

  • Integrate Christ-centered teachings into camp activities and programs.
  • Lead and/or oversee devotions, worship sessions, and faith-based discussions.
  • Support the spiritual growth of both campers and staff.

Board of Directors

  • Serve as liaison for Camp to the Board of Directors and The MidAmerica District Executive Committee (DEXCOM).
  • Set agenda and lead quarterly board meetings (coordinate with board chair if position is filled) to provide regular reports on camp operations, finances, and program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to align strategic objectives and organizational goals.
