The Opportunity
Our location in Lake Forest, North Chicago, IL currently has an opportunity for a Associate Director Validation position. This person will be Responsible for applying clinical best practices, regulations, and quality standards for successful planning and execution across different programs within Clinical Affairs. This individual is responsible for executing in-vitro diagnostic studies in support of product submissions and Laboratory Developed Tests. Clinical studies may include but are not limited to specimen collection, product testing, and usability. The Associate Director Clinical Research will have direct reporting of Clinical Research Associates and Clinical Study Assistants. Required to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet targeted timelines while strategizing for issue resolution and study execution. Will need to partner and develop working relationships with new clinical sites, vendors, CROs and KOL’s.
What You’ll Work On
- Plans for and manages activities for project completion and coordinates clinical systems to ensure effective and efficient study completion. Includes coordination of activities with Clinical Operations, Biostatistics and Data Management.
- Manages a clinical study team that may include Clinical Research Associates, Senior Clinical Research Associates, and Clinical Study Assistants; assists with hiring, developing, training, and motivating personnel to meet departmental needs.
- Evaluates and interprets clinical research data to ensure timely and accurate data analysis and completion of final record.
- Manages the development of clinical trial protocols, final records, clinical brochures, negotiation and execution of clinical site agreements.
- Communicate with cross functional associates (i.e., Regulatory, Quality, Legal, and R&D teams) and site leaders (i.e., Principal/Primary Investigators, Key Opinion Leaders, etc.) to carry-out strategic initiatives.
- Act as point person for identifying and working with vendors and research partners in contract development and negotiation.
- Prepares Clinical Project Charters with timelines, associated budgeting and personnel requirements. Assures assigned projects operate within scope and budget.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with a minimum 4 years of clinical research experience and 2 years of management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical Research Certification (e.g., CCRA, CCRC, CPI). Medical Technology (e.g., MLT/MT, CLS).
- Advanced degree ( MD, PHD, MS ) preferred.
- 5 years of clinical trial experience preferred.
- Independent initiative, anticipatory mindset, and problem-solving skills

The base pay for this position is $127,300.00 – $254,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
