WSP are seeking a highly experienced Associate Director – Bridges & Tunnels to join our client’s growing Transport & Infrastructure division based in Riyadh or Jeddah. The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of major bridge and tunnel projects across Saudi Arabia, ensuring technical excellence, innovation, and adherence to international standards.

You will play a strategic role in project leadership, client management, and team development, while supporting the growth of the business in the region.


Your new role, what’s involved?

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients in Saudi Arabia, building strong relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Lead business development in the bridges and tunnels market in KSA and support wider business development activities, including preparation of technical proposals and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Provide technical leadership to the design team, ensuring compliance with local and international codes and standards.
  • Lead the design management and technical delivery of complex bridge and tunnel infrastructure projects from concept to detailed design stages.
  • Oversee project planning, resourcing, budgeting, and quality control across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, highway, railway and MEP specialists.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Represent the consultancy in industry forums and client meetings, promoting technical excellence and thought leadership.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree is highly desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng, PE, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the design of bridges and/or tunnels, including 5 years in a senior or leadership capacity.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in KSA.
  • Proven track record of business development, work winning and building strong client relationships.
  • Proven track record of working within international engineering consultancies on large-scale infrastructure design projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant design software (e.g., Midas, RM Bridge, SOFiSTiK, LUSAS, PLAXIS, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of local Saudi regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
