Assistant Vice President, Compliance Department Asia Pacific Division (Planning Team) – SMBC

Job Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate with Head Office and APAC offices on compliance matters and policies, including compliance with Japanese laws and regulations
  • Providing advice on and considering implementation issues for regional offices relating to changes to Head Office policies especially in Corporate Compliance ; co-ordinating with head office on the changes and necessary approvals
  • Providing advice on and considering control measures for front office relating to new initiatives and new products/services from the perspective of Japanese laws and regulations
  • Providing advice on and oversighting group companies to enhance their compliance framework
  • Planning and conducting training regarding Japanese laws/regulations and Head Office policies/rules
  • Managing budget and expense of the department communicating with relevant department
  • Assessing required resource and headcount
  • Such other matters assigned by Dept Head or Team Head

Job Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent
  • At least 2 years’ experience in planning activities in Compliance or AML in FI (in a Japanese bank would be desirable)
  • Experience in manging cross country projects is highly desirable
  • Good communication in English and Japanese (native proficiency in Japanese is desirable) and stakeholder management skills
  • Able to work under tight timelines
  • Knowledge of Japanese laws and regulations especially r elated to banking industry such as information protection and FW regulation
