The Team

The Healthcare Industry Group, a subsidiary of AandM, is at the forefront of delivering transformational change to the healthcare industry. Our team provides additional expertise in interim management, restructuring, revenue cycle management, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and regulatory, digital technology and analytics.

You will have the opportunity to work with clients in a variety of sectors including health systems and providers, physician groups, ancillary providers, medical schools, vision, laboratory, dental and behavior health; managed care and health plans, government plans and programs, healthcare investors and lenders, medical devices, healthcare suppliers and infrastructure, and life sciences.

HIG’s Healthcare Services practice (HCS), with offices throughout the US, focuses on serving private equity firm’s portfolio companies and public and private healthcare companies. Our HCS services include technology assessment (including systems, products, process, data, security, team), performance improvement/operational turnarounds, cost optimization, MandA services, finance operations, and interim management (including CFO services).

  • Technology Assessment: Whether for due diligence, self-assessment, or transformation objectives we support the review and analysis of platform, data and system architectures, and related applications / products, integrations, infrastructure, processes (PLC, SDLC, compliance), data (architecture, governance, BI, etc.), security, IT teams for scale, capability, cost, resilience, maintainability risk related issues and value opportunities
  • Performance Improvement/Operational Turnaround: Whether serving in interim management roles or in a performance improvement advisory capacity, we draw on deep operational heritage and proven approaches (such as our proprietary rapid results diagnostic) to assess businesses and identify key areas impeding performance quickly and effectively.
  • Cost Optimization: AandM’s cost optimization program is a holistic, cross-functional approach that focuses on quickly identifying high-impact opportunities for EBITDA and cash flow improvements across the entire cost structure. AandM’s cost optimization focuses on driving significant improvements in cost structure by providing full transparency on cost and margin profiles to simplify and streamline the business and increase the efficiency of overhead costs.
  • MandA Services: AandM supports companies throughout the MandA lifecycle, including conducting operational/synergy due diligence, integration planning and execution, as well as divestiture and carve-out planning and execution.
  • Finance Operations: AandM drives improvement to its clients’ finance operations, including management reporting and optimization of the month-end close process.
  • Interim Management: In select instances, one of HCS’s experienced operators may step into an interim role (i.e. CEO, COO, CFO, CIO) to drive change while a full-time replacement is being recruited.

How you will contribute

As a Senior Director, you will work on a diverse range of complex projects in the areas of advisory services, operational turnaround, and interim management. You will provide direction in the planning, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, and services that adhere to approved plans, budgets, and schedules. Working as a consultative partner to our clients you will manage day-to-day operations and relationships, ensure exceptional team performance and ensure deliverables effectively align to clients’ priorities. In addition to client delivery, you will be responsible for training, mentoring and performance evaluations of junior staff. As a leader and subject matter expert, you’ll frequently be called upon to help with business development activities.

You will work with a team that is passionate about delivering transformational change to our clients through our consulting, advisory and interim management services in financial and operational performance improvement, strategy, and merger and acquisition services.

Qualifications

A high-energy and successful business transformation leader with extensive knowledge and experience in strategy, operational and financial performance improvement or MandA in healthcare industry sectors we serve.

10 years of prior advisory experience that will likely be from a top tier strategy firm, a specialist consulting firm or management consultancy. Alternatively, the successful candidate may have held a leadership role within a healthcare business of significant size, scale and complexity.

Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare related discipline, Master’s degree or technical certification a plus.

A hands-on and non-hierarchical operator who is equally effective in managing up and down and relates well at all levels and cultures.

Prior experience leading work streams and mentoring junior staff.

Strong facilitation skills, forging consensus around credible, executable solutions.

A deep understanding of client operations and needs. Recognize opportunities to expand work within existing clients and identify opportunities for improvement across their business.

An ability to develop and manage client relationships.

A passion about affecting real change.

An ability to read people accurately; can diagnose strengths, weaknesses, and potential; knows what skills are required to fill a job or role; hires the best.
