Sr Director, Technology Architecture

Position Summary:

The role is a pivotal leadership role reporting directly to the VP of Data, AI, and Architecture. This strategic position is responsible for developing and executing the enterprise-wide technology architecture vision, aligning it with business objectives, and driving digital transformation initiatives. The role requires exceptional leadership skills to guide a team of architects and engineers, as well as the ability to influence and gain buy-in from stakeholders across the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

Strategic Vision and Roadmap Development

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive technology architecture roadmap, encompassing both core infrastructure/platform enhancements and digital transformation initiatives
  • Collaborate with business leaders to translate strategic priorities into architectural requirements and technical solutions
  • Develop and articulate compelling business cases and ROI analyses for proposed architecture initiatives, quantifying both hard and soft benefits

Leadership and Team Development

  • Guide and mentor a team of senior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Empower team members to identify and propose architectural solutions that align with the overall roadmap
  • Develop measurable objectives for the team that support organizational goals and drive technological advancement

Stakeholder Engagement and Influence

  • Build strong relationships with business and technology leaders across the organization
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and architecture strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership
  • Demonstrate proven success in gaining buy-in for both core infrastructure/platform enhancements and digital transformation initiatives

Technology Strategy and Governance

  • Establish and maintain technology standards, methodologies, and processes to govern the IT landscape
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and their potential business applications, recommending strategic investments
  • Ensure alignment between technology architecture and overall business strategy

Value Quantification and ROI Analysis

  • Develop robust methodologies for quantifying the value of technology investments, including both tangible and intangible benefits
  • Create compelling business cases that clearly articulate the ROI of proposed architecture initiatives
  • Utilize financial metrics and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making and budget allocation

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in technology architecture with a proven track record of leading enterprise-scale initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in gaining organizational buy-in for both infrastructure and digital transformation projects.
  • Strong background in ROI analysis and business case development for technology investments.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms, microservices, API management, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with architecture modeling tools and techniques.
  • Strong grasp of financial principles related to technology investments and ROI calculation.
  • Exceptional ability to influence and gain buy-in across organizational boundaries.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinking balanced with pragmatic delivery focus.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $200,000.00 to $250,000.00 per year
