The Role/Responsibility: The Director Risk Management will be responsible for the identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational risks within the Data Estate. This role involves developing and implementing risk management frameworks and procedures to ensure the organization’s operational resilience and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Director will work closely with senior management, business segments, and other stakeholders to promote a strong risk culture and ensure effective risk management practices.

  • Develop and implement an operational risk management framework, including policies, procedures and tools for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting operational risks.
  • Lead the development and execution of risk assessments, scenario analysis, and stress testing to identify potential operational risks and their impact on the organization.
  • Collaborate with business segments and other stakeholders to ensure that operational risks are effectively managed and mitigated.
  • Monitor and report on key risk indicators (KRIs) and risk events, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of operational risk events and develop action plans to address identified issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to operational risk management.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on operational risk management practices and promote a strong risk culture within the organization.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to support the management and development of a team of risk management professionals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, risk management, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operational risk management, preferably within the financial services industry, strong knowledge of operational risk management frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Able to effectively manage cross-functional project teams that consist of indirect reports; the successful candidate has a proven ability to marshal matrixed resources needed to meet project deliverables and a proven ability to transparently report on progress.
  • Ability to develop a full and deep understanding of the business operations, and how they create value and risk for organizations
  • Ability to think with a control and process mindset.
  • Ability to effectively analyze risk within the context of the business problems.
  • Demonstrates an ability to construct, challenge and manage choices.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on a variety of assignments as defined by current priorities.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $143,800.00 – $208,600.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
