Director Software Engineering – Remote

A company is looking for a Director, Software Engineering to help grow the engineering team and further establish the culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides subject matter expertise in areas of software delivery, project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, facilitation and other areas of expertise based on established product, program, and project management techniques
  • Design, implement, and monitor all operations and key performance metrics/operational efficiency for the engineering team
  • Presents to management on product updates, project cycle, and expected results
  • Manages and ensures projects are completed on time and in scope
  • Works with Business SME’s, Engineers, UX designers and other team members to ensure the project plan is accurately documented, tracked, managed and reported
  • Adapts program plans and priorities to address business, technical and operational challenges
  • Sets team direction, resolves problems and provides guidance to members of the team
  • May oversee work activities to other team members, to ensure quality deliverables that meet program needs and requirements
  • Provides innovative solutions to technical challenges
  • Manages a team of high performing technical team, recruiting and developing them in their career
  • Recommend new ideas to improve efficiency
  • Strikes a balance between throughput and stability

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in technical software engineering
  • 6+ years of experience of managing (manager or director title) technical engineering teams
  • 3+ years of experience in executive stakeholder management and presentations
  • 5+ years experienced delivering technical products to an active user base in a live production environment
  • 5+ years’ experience collaborating with product leadership to ensure project milestones are met

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a banking, or a financial institution
  • Experience working in the healthcare or insurance industry
  • Experience in working within large organizations
  • Experience managing a geographically dispersed team
  • Deep knowledge of industry trends and best practices
  • Demonstrated leadership techniques of managing high-performing development teams
  • Willingness and drive to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Proven solid moral compass and commitment to company core values of inclusion, empowerment, and trust
  • Proven sense of empathy for others, both end users and your collaborators

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
