Business Director

Overview

The Business Director is responsible for contributing to the achievement of business plan objectives by the effective management of the provision of quality communication strategies to clients

Responsibilities

  • Lead and build a strong Account Servicing team and galvanize, motivate & inspire them to define, design and deliver best class strategy and delivery
  • Ensure excellent customer service levels throughout Client Servicing Team and all agency touch points
  • Able to translate and understand client’s business challenges, and create strategic experiential (& integrated, where applicable) plans to solve or improve business performance, demonstrated through clearly defined and measurable results
  • Ensure company profitability (P&L) – all budgets are sufficient at the start of each client engagement, and that during each engagement, Account Servicing Team members are staying within appropriate ranges of profitability, while always delivering highest quality service and product
  • Responsible for the direction, growth and development of all members of the assigned Account Servicing Team – including but not limited to performance reviews, goal setting, professional education, motivation and engagement.
  • Ensure that Account Servicing Team provides clients with a continuous flow of key learnings and recommendations that improve their business and lead to closer partnerships with the agency
  • Build and maintain outstanding customer relationships with assigned client(s)
  • Identify potential new business within existing client roster
  • Actively support the Business Development team on new program builds, as lead, through pitch process, to eventually take over and manage the program and client
  • Effectively present and sell agency work/proposals to client roster
  • Assist in the creation of project specific budgets
  • Attend client meetings during development phase of engagement
  • Maintain on-going relationship with clients after the initial “sell-in” phase
  • Develop and execute program contracts with clients
  • Identify “breakthrough” concepts and ideas that deliver to the strategy and business needs of the client
  • Coaching and mentorship of account team; determine ways to incorporate and develop best practices into account team members’ skill sets
  • Establish KPIs for client program/activations, identify the measurement methodology to be used and ensure proactive measurement
  • Lead quarterly agency/client reviews to highlight performance, share category or industry insights that will lead to business driving conversations

Qualifications

  • 10 – 12 years advertising experience required or experience in advertising industry, with proven track record on strategic and operational planning and execution, in regional/global accounts
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving
  • Able to work successfully with teams, handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines under pressure
  • Must be passionate on the Brand (FMCG industry) – from its products to its value
  • Able to add business value to the Brand – beyond just marketing (e.g. sales, operations, food suggestions & etc.)
  • Knowledge of all integrated advertising processes/procedures
  • Thorough understanding of creative and planning concepts
  • Knowledge of strategic intent and experience in evaluating creative work against it
  • Communication & Presentation Skills

  • Team Player & Leadership – able to work closely internal team (e.g. Creative, Strategy Planning, Social Media & etc) and leading the team to ensure all Client’s objective is met
  • Flexibility – clear understanding and know when to pick the right battles
  • Client Focus – has the patience to deal with clients & has the ability to assure them on the right path to walk on
  • Initiative & Resilient – proactive, organized and be able to handle multiple jobs at the same time
  • Self Confidence – be able to manage presentation & day-to-day communication with clients and brave enough to admit mistake & apologize for it
