About the Role

The Company is seeking a VP Claims Litigation and Panel Counsel Management to lead the strategic and operational aspects of external legal relationships within the claims organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing the performance of external law firms, known as panel law firms, that provide legal services on behalf of the company’s claims division. This includes developing and maintaining strong relationships with these firms, negotiating rates, and ensuring that their services align with the company’s performance standards and organizational goals. The role also involves leading a team that assesses the qualifications and performance of panel law firms, as well as driving best-in-class outcomes while managing legal expenses through data analysis and partnership with the company’s analytics team.
Applicants for this role at the company should have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in insurance claims litigation, with at least 7 years in the direct oversight and management of outside law firms. The ideal candidate will have a current bar license, strong analytical skills, and the ability to influence and execute litigation management initiatives. Executive presence and leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to stay abreast of legal developments and industry best practices. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, effective communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A background in insurance defense law and experience with PowerBI, Excel, and predictive models are highly valued.
