Learn more about the Job:
Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Senior Director of Development (SDD) is a key member of the development leadership team. In collaboration with the CDO, the SDD will work to create a holistic, strategic, and thoughtful approach to increasing private support and engagement from individuals and execute long and short-term strategies to grow the philanthropic pipeline and secure major gifts. The incumbent will supervise and work with a fundraising team to meet long-term operational goals.
The SDD will support the CDO in operationalizing a complex development operation comprised of a full range of individual giving fundraising programs, including major gift development, annual giving, digital fundraising, sponsorships, planned giving, and external relation functions such as events, volunteer coordination and management, donor relations, and stewardship, and other marketing related activities.
This position requires an experienced and inclusive leader to lead a development team in achieving fundraising revenue targets. The SDD will have a strong, successful track record in building relationships, closing major gifts, and achieving individual and team fundraising goals.
Employing a complete understanding of the work that All For Kids does to achieve its mission, the SDD serves a key role in the cultivation of the agency’s vision, strategies, and accomplishments and how they are used to engage donors, staff, and community.
Job Responsibilities:
Organizational and Fundraising Leadership
- Serve as a key member of the All For Kids Senior Leadership Team, ensuring alignment and collaboration across organizational departments and addressing issues that challenge and support the effectiveness of fundraising efforts.
- Successfully cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of current and prospective donors.
- Conceives, creates, develops, implements, evaluates, and manages development programs and strategies to meet predetermined revenue goals and objectives.
Staff and Resource Management
- Directly manage and supervise a team of development professionals and administrative staff.
- Cultivate team innovation and empower them by providing clear objectives, direction, and prioritization of fundraising goals and timelines.
- Foster a culture of accountability around metrics and operationalize strategies to build fundraising capacity and drive results.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintaining accountability to donors and appropriate standards of professional conduct and principles for fundraising.
Volunteer Leadership and Management
- In collaboration with the CDO, provide oversight of volunteer engagement, assist board members and volunteer committees to fulfill their responsibilities effectively, and manage an annual calendar of events.
- Creates, establishes, and evaluates methods for building/maintaining prospect and volunteer constituencies; identifies, recruits, and directs the activities of high-level volunteers.
- Work with CEO, CDO, and board members to identify and recruit prospective board members and potential donors.
Job Qualifications:
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of demonstrated non-profit executive experience leading fundraising teams and achieving revenue targets. Excellent leadership/management skills to select, train, mentor, evaluate, and motivate staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Demonstrated leadership in working with key volunteers including board members.
- In-depth and current knowledge of fundraising best practices, procedures, applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
- Experience in producing successful and meaningful special events.
- Experience working with a volunteer-driven, community-based organization and a deep passion for the mission and values of All For Kids.
- Expert organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Expert project/program management skills, including setting and meeting program/project goals and objectives within budget and time constraints.
- Expert written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
